Puffing loudly, Harry, Ron and Hermione climbed the tightly spiralling steps,
哈利、羅恩和赫敏大口地喘著氣，爬上這旋轉得厲害的樓梯。
getting dizzier and dizzier, until at last they heard the murmur of voices above them, and knew they had reached the classroom.
越來越感到眩暈，最后他們聽到了頭頂上嗡嗡的說話聲，知道他們已經到教室了。
'Farewell!' cried the knight, popping his head into a painting of some sinister-looking monks.
“再見！”騎士叫道，把腦袋伸進一幅畫面里，這幅畫上有幾個看上去陰險邪惡的和尚。
'Farewell, my comrades-in-arms! If ever you have need of noble heart and steely sinew, call upon Sir Cadogan!'
“再見，我的戰友們！如果你們需要高尚的心靈和鋼鐵般的肌肉，別忘了叫我卡多根爵士！”
'Yeah, we'll call you,' muttered Ron, as the knight disappeared, 'if we ever need someone mental.'
“是啊，我們會叫你的，”羅恩咕噥著說，這時騎士消失了，“如果我們需要什么瘋子的話。”
They climbed the last few steps and emerged onto a tiny landing, where most of the class was already assembled.
他們爬上最后幾級樓梯，登上一處小小的平臺，這個班的人多數在這里了。
There were no doors off this landing;
樓梯平臺上沒有門；
Ron nudged Harry and pointed at the ceiling, where there was a circular trap door with a brass plaque on it.
羅恩推推哈利，指指天花板，那里有一個圓形的活板門，門上有一塊銅牌。
'Sybill Trelawney, Divination teacher,' Harry read.
“西比爾特里勞妮，占卜教師。”哈利讀道。
'How're we supposed to get up there?'
“我們怎么樣才能上去呢？”
As though in answer to his question, the trap door suddenly opened, and a silvery ladder descended right at Harry's feet.
好像是回答他的問題似的，那扇活板門突然打開了，一道銀色的梯子正放在哈利腳前。
Everyone went quiet. 'After you,' said Ron, grinning, so Harry climbed the ladder first.
大家都安靜下來了。“你先上。”羅恩說，露齒而笑，于是哈利就第一個上去了。
He emerged into the strangest-looking classroom he had ever seen.
他來到一間從來沒有見過的最古怪的教室。
In fact, it didn't look like a classroom at all; more like a cross between someone's attic and an old-fashioned teashop.
實際上，這根本不是教室，倒更像是閣樓和老式茶館的混合物。
