Part 1：選詞填空真題第二套

選詞填空是英語四級考試閱讀中的題型之一，主要考查對上下文的理解以及對詞匯應用能力。選詞填空的篇幅在250~300詞左右，要求考生從給出15個的單詞中，選出10個填到文中的空格處。

題型介紹

To get a sense of how women have progressed in science, take a quick tour of the physics department at the University of California, Berkeley.
若想了解女性在科學進步上的成就，只需到加州大學伯克利分校物理系走訪一下便可略知一二。
This is a storied place, the 36 of some of the most important discoveries in modern science that started with Ernest Lawrence's invention of the cyclotron (回旋加速器) in 1931.

This is a storied place, the 36 of some of the most important discoveries in modern science that started with Ernest Lawrence's invention of the cyclotron (回旋加速器) in 1931.
這是個傳奇之地，現代科學史上的很多重要發明均在此地誕生，如1931年勞倫斯發明的回旋加速器。
【思路】：在the與of 的雙重限定之下，空格處可判斷填名詞。同時，主謂賓加逗號This is a storied place, 后接的名詞，是同位語表解釋，即可判斷空格的詞應該與place同意。名詞選項中，site 地點最為貼切。

“保八大法” （八）
That 要看先行詞
注意本句中的that，在選詞填空題中，that 后必填動詞，那么填動詞的哪種形式（do/does/did) 需要看先行詞判斷。如本句中，先行詞為discoveries 復數，又是過去發生的事，所以that后的動詞是started. 雖然本篇沒有在此處設考點，但同學們一定要掌握此種解題方法。

【思路】：were 作為be動詞，其后肯定填表語形容詞，那么37空詞性已判斷出來，接著從上下文找尋最貼切的詞義。
【思路】：先看38空，exhibits為名詞，根據大法“名詞后填分詞”，句意判斷此處為honoring, 尊敬，紀念。
【思路】：39空在逗號之后，敏銳地想到去觀察逗號前的句子，發現主謂賓都齊全，根據大法（三）什么都不缺，就把副詞填，符合條件，此處一定是個副詞，發現副詞列表中，virtually （事實上的）有表示結論的意思，就是它了。再回頭看37空，根據句意判斷，大多數都是男性面孔，那么female faces 一定是相反，稀少罕有了，于是rare成為了正確選項。

【思路】41空在and之前，保八大法（六）告訴我們“and ,or 語法平行，內涵平衡，” 只能填與學生students 詞性和含義相似的詞語，那么members 就是爭取選項了。
【思路】42空，whose后面有名詞，當做獨立的句子來看，看主謂賓是否齊全，有主語research, 有賓語everything, 看來就差個謂語了，在動詞分組里找，發現covers,包含涉及最為準確。研究領域包含了從宇宙力學，到微觀量子。(法七：填個動詞就OK)

【思路】：but also 其實也就是not only的平行結構，所以，按照方法（六）注意選取與optimistic 語法和含義上相似的詞語，realistic現實的成為了正確選項。
【思路】：45空，普通語法題，as as 結構中間只能接形容詞或副詞，從would like 判斷，修飾動詞的只能是副詞了。結合上下文判斷，快速地fast為正確選項。
