While speaking alongside South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday, Donald Trump said that the United States' patience with the North Korean regime "is over."

In a statement from the Rose Garden at the White House, Trump said, "The era of strategic patience with the North Korean regime has failed. And, frankly, that patience is over."

He then went on to say that the US is facing "the threat of a reckless and brutal regime in North Korea" that "has no regard for the safety and security of its people or neighbors".

The remarks come from reports that Trump is growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in halting North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
