The United Arab Emirates agreed to take in 15 inmates from Guantánamo Bay, reducing the number held at America’s c**troversial offshore prison to 61. Barack Obama wants to close the facility, which has housed almost 800 suspected terrorists since opening in 2001, but has faced Republican opposition. If the number keeps dropping, Gitmo could be empty by the end of Mr Obama’s term.
