Mark: I can't believe I'll be going to college next month. It seems like just yesterday I was starting my freshmen year of high school.
馬克：我簡(jiǎn)直不敢相信我下個(gè)月就要上大學(xué)啦。感覺(jué)高一新入學(xué)還是昨天的事情一樣。
Jingjing: That's great, but what are you so pumped up about? College is a lot of work you know?
京晶：太棒了，但是你興奮什么呢？大學(xué)生活是很忙碌的，你知道嗎？
Mark: Yeah, but now I'm finally free! I'm going to move into my own dorm room! Now no one can tell me what to do!
馬克：我知道，但是我終于自由了！我馬上就要搬進(jìn)宿舍了，再也沒(méi)有人管我了。
Jingjing: Your parents can still tell you what to do.
京晶：你父母還是可以管你呀。
Mark: What do you mean? I'm moving out of their house.
馬克：你什么意思？我都要搬出他們的房子了。
Jingjing: Just because you move out of their house, doesn't mean you're independent. If they're paying for your living expenses then technically you still depend on them so you should still be respectful and listen to what they have to say.
京晶：僅僅搬出他們的房子，并不意味著你就獨(dú)立了。如果你的生活費(fèi)還是他們幫忙支付的，那么實(shí)際上你還得依靠他們。所以你還是得尊重他們并且聽(tīng)他們的話。
Mark: Yeah, I guess you're right. Why did you have to take the wind out of my sail? I was really getting excited.
馬克：哦，是啊，我想你是對(duì)的，但你為什么一定要打破我的幻想呢？我本來(lái)真的很興奮。
Jingjing: If you want to depend on them less, then maybe you should get a part-time job once school starts.

Mark: I'll consider it.
馬克：我會(huì)考慮的。
Jingjing: Hey, since you're moving out of your parents' house so soon,do you wanna sell me your television that's in your room?

Mark: Be my guest. That thing is so old, I was gonna toss it out anyways. You can just have it.
馬克：我很樂(lè)意啊，那東西太老了，我本來(lái)也要把它扔了的，你可以直接拿走。
Jingjing: Really? Thanks!
京晶：真的嗎？謝謝！
Mark: I'm glad you like it. Besides, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Jingjing: Mark, I've been knocking on your door for half an hour now, what's going on?

Mark: Sorry, I was sleeping. I've been so tired lately.
馬克：對(duì)不起，我剛才在睡覺(jué)，我最近太累了。
Jingjing: Too much bed makes a dull head! You're really turning into a slacker!
京晶：睡太多覺(jué)會(huì)讓人變懶，你現(xiàn)在真的要變成一只大懶蟲(chóng)了！
Mark: Actually, I took your advice and got a part-time job. I've been working the graveyard shift and coming home really early every morning.
馬克：事實(shí)是，我聽(tīng)了你的建議并找了一份兼職工作，我最近一直在值夜班，要到早上才能回來(lái)。
Jingjing: What about your classes? Are you putting them on the backburner?
京晶：那你的課怎么辦？你是把上課放在其次了嗎？
Mark: No, school comes first. I go to school in the evening then I go to work. It's been really hard trying to be independent. I didn't think it would be this much work.
馬克：沒(méi)有，學(xué)業(yè)還是最重要的。我每天傍晚先去上學(xué)，然后才去工作。要變得獨(dú)立真的很難，我沒(méi)想到會(huì)有這么多工作要做。
Jingjing: Be careful what you wish for. I never said being an independent person is easy. Now you know how much pain your parents went through when they were raising you. This is your first time living away from your parents and depending on yourself. You have to learn to walk before you can run. Take it easy!
