China Showcases Elevated Bus
空中巴士亮相
China surprised the world by doing a road test of an elevated bus that could reduce traffic problems. The electric bus, which is about 72 feet long and 25 feet wide, spans across a few traffic lanes and allows vehicles to drive beneath it. The prototype of the Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) seats about 300 passengers, but future versions could hold even more people. The builders say that the buses are much cheaper than expanding underground transit. Though the elevated bus is not yet roadworthy, other countries including India, France, and Brazil have expressed interest in using a similar type of transit for their own busy roads.
