The Commonwealth is an organization consisting of（組成） the United Kingdom and most of the countries that were previously under its rule.

Here is the definition from the official website of The British Monarchy: The Commonwealth is a voluntary (自愿的) association of 53 independent（獨立的） countries, almost all of which
were formerly under British rule. 簡單的說，英聯邦就是當年日不落帝國的殖民地們一起組成的一個組織。英國女王Queen Elizabeth II 就是這個組織的帶頭大姐。
