講解
Today’s key word is Halloween
Halloween 萬圣節(jié)
Halloween is the evening before All Saints' Day; often devoted to pranks(惡作劇) played by young people.
Here is an example:
Do you want to come to a Halloween party?
Halloween is the night of the 31st of October. It is thought to have evolved from the ancient Celtic(凱爾特人的) holiday of Samhain(夏末節(jié)). The Celts used the day to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.
It is the time when ghosts and witches(女巫) can be seen.
Modern Halloween is more about costumes and candy other than ghosts.
Children in costume will go from house to house, asking for treats such as candies, with the question "Trick or treat?"
A jack-o'-lantern is a carved(雕刻的) pumpkin, named after the phenomenon(現(xiàn)象) of strange light flickering over peat bogs(泥沼)。
我也要去買南瓜去了,see you next time!
