Xiaogao: I don't, but I really wanna learn. Did you hear about the amazing achievement of Google's AI robot, AlphaGo?

Jingjing: I heard about it, but why are you so excited?

Xiaogao: Because it's the first AI program that could beat a professional player at the most complex board game mankind has ever created.

Jingjing: I thought computers have been able to beat humans at chess for a long time. What's the big deal?

XG: You're right, but there's a huge difference between chess and Go. Computers can easily beat humans because it is way less complicated.Computers don't need to be smart to win at chess, they just need to be fast. A computer can use a technique called brute force to win at chess. This is not possible with Go. AlphaGo uses real artificial intelligence called deep learning in order to solve problems.

Xiaogao: This is important because it shows great potential for AI to solve other complicated problems, such as complex weather conditions,disease control, and global warming issues.

Jingjing: I heard the AI robot only won 4 out of 5 matches. Does that mean that AI has room for improvement?

Xiaogao: That's right. The robot isn't perfect, but it certainly impressed the entire world. Some of AlphaGo's moves were described as “beautiful” by Go fans.
