Apple Battles FBI Over Privacy
A legal battle between Apple and the FBI continued on Capitol Hill this week. Apple has refused to comply with a federal judge who ordered the company to help the FBI unlock the iPhone of one of a terrorist. At the congressional hearing, the parties debated modern privacy issues, including encryption and user security. The FBI feels that no company should be able to create a warrant-free space. Apple feels that the government should not be allowed to order a company to provide decryption services. Rival tech giants, including Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Twitter are all standing behind Apple.
