This is the third of four stories by Boccaccio telling the absolutely dark

Nastagio is here He's been rejected by his girlfriend and he's gone out

into the woods to brood about this where he sees a horrific scene

that is a young nude woman attacked by dogs with a knight rushing in

who doesn't rescue her on the contrary leaps off his horse

and strikes her down with his sword ripping out her heart and entrails

Nastagio tries to stop this and he's told "No We are ghosts

This is our posthumous punishment" and they are being punished for sins

that are not similar to what's happening in Nastagio's own life
這跟那斯達久的生活大不相同
which is that the girl has rejected the man so in other words she's gone
這個裸女生前拒接了騎士的求愛
against society's needs from her
她的行為違背了當時的社會需要
The man in his despair has committed suicide of course a terrible sin
這名騎士絕望地自殺身亡,這是很嚴重的罪孽
and this is a daunting type of punishment that they are suffering
因此他們必須接受最嚴厲的懲罰
So Nastagio has this great idea that what he will do is to set up a

banquet for his erstwhile girlfriend and her family

And they will witness this which is what you are seeing now

Knowing the whole she changes her mind and decides that perhaps

Mysterious and very interesting

Then there are of course the great chests that were made for these rooms

This is our own Trebizond cassone which showed some kind of scene

between the battle with the ottomen that takes place on the Anatolian Peninsula

that leaving us with a lot of confusion

because those two places are in fact hundreds of miles apart

And here you can see there are falcon on the sides
