More and more people are forgetting the saying, "Pride comes before a fall."
有愈來愈多的人忘記了“驕者必敗”這句俗話。
I remember only a few years ago when things used to be so different.
我記得才幾年前情形完全不一樣。
People used to be more modest and humble.
以前的人比較謙虛。
As I looked around at my schoolmate the other day, I realized how different things are.
前幾天我看了看我的同學后，我了解到現在事情是多么不同。
People are so much more pretentious nowadays.
現在人們比以前浮華得多。
With their fancy clothes and stylish hairdos, they appear too materialistic, which is not to my liking.
他們花哨的穿著和時髦的發型使他們顯得過于注重物質享受，這一點我很不喜歡。
I know modernization is necessary for advancement.
我知道要進步就必須要現代化。
However, I hope we don't lose our traditional moral values along the way.
然而，我希望我們在這同時不要失去傳統的道德價值觀。
