Mother asked her little boy, Darling, what did the teacher teach you today?
母親問她年幼的兒子：寶貝，今天老師教了你些什么？
Nothing, Mum, answered the son proundly, instead, she asked me how much one plus two was, and I told her three.
兒子驕傲地說：什么都沒教，媽媽。她反倒問我一加二等于幾，我告訴她等于三。

1.ask
ask是個很簡單的單詞，關于它的用法今天簡單來講講：
1).可以接雙賓語
Ask him his name. 問問他的名字。
有時雙賓語可以交換位置，借助介詞of，

比如 eg：He came to ask a favour of me. 他來請我幫忙。

2).看看ask與介詞的常見搭配：
(1) 與介詞 for 連用，有“要求得到”的意思。

如：She is always asking for money. 她老是要錢。
(2) 與 about 連用，表示詢問或打聽關于某事的情況。

如：Ask (him) about the ring. 問問（他）你丟的戒指。
(3) 與 after 連用，表問候或問好。

如：He always asks after you in his letters. 他每次來信都向你問候。

2.instead
instead意為“代替”“替代”，作副詞用，通常位于句尾。如位于句首時常用逗號與后面閣開。instead 在順接句子中作“代替”講，而在轉折（或逆轉）句子中作“然而”講。

例如：
1.Lily isn't here. Ask Lucy instead.
莉莉不在這兒，去問露西吧.
2.she didn't answer me, instead, she asked me another question.
她沒有回答我，反而問了我另外一個問題。

instead of是介賓短語，其意與instead相同，不同之處在于它后面常接賓語，起賓語多由名詞、代詞、介詞、短語、動詞ing形式充當。
eg：I'll go instead of her. 我會代替她去。
