A husband, proving to his wife that women talk more than men, showed her a study which indicated that men use on average only 15000 words a day, whereas women use 30000 words a day.
丈夫給妻子看了一項調查結果，為了向她證明女人比男人啰嗦。研究表明男人平均每天使用15000個字，而女人每天使用30000個。
She thought about this for a while and then told her husband that women use twice as many words as men because they have to repeat everything they say.

1.prove
prove最原始的意思是“證明”，因此是應該有一個事實支撐的結果。BBC里的prove就是證明她們的價值的意思。turn out也有證明的意思，不過turn out有種驚訝的意思在里面。
prove作為及物動詞：

2.on average
on average是平均起來的意思。
eg：On average we receive five letters each day. 我們平均每天收到五封信。

3.twice as many words as
twice as much as 和twice as many as 雖意思都是。。。兩倍多
只是一個用于可數名詞，一個用語不可數名詞。
twice as much as 用語不可數名詞之間的比較，而word是可數名詞，所以這里用twice as many as。
