Shanghai football club invests heavily in big-name foreign players. CNN's Stan Grant reports.

This is less to do with sport and more to do with the back room dealing, is more to do with business really. It has all come about because the owner of the club or the majority stake holder here has put in about 100 million dollars, he was expecting to lift his share, the moment he has about 28 percent share of the club, Shanghai Shenghua, he expected to lift that to about 70 percent. That hasn't happened. The other stake holders haven't moved on that. He is now threatening to simply withdraw a lot of the funding to only pay his 28% share of the overall cost of the club. That is of course no way near covering the cost of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba. Didier Drogba came here about six weeks ago. It was an enormous fan fair, huge crowd at the airport. At pay cheque is about 300 thousand dollars a week. Now Zhujun who is person who is paying the wage here withdraws that money, there is no way that Shenhua be able to cover those costs. That would mean that Anelka and Drogba would simply wouldn't be paid. They have very very little future remaining in the club. How seriously to take this patrick, a lot of speculations in Chinese media, this is just a business ploy, this is an attempt to try to strong on the other share holders into relinquish and allowing the increase in the share of the company that the major backer is demanding. But it is still to play out at this moment Drogba is out of the country, he is actually in the UK at this moment, catching up with friends and family and former players in club Chelsea.
