Eyal Gever is using the latest in 3D technology to create images we thought were just for the movie screen.
A 3D simulation of an oil splash ripples into life. These images are then crystalised in Eyal Gever's art work. Using his own 3D physical simulation technology, Gever is able to capture and freeze catastrophic situations before turning them into 3D art.
Eyal Gever, artist, said, "The process that I've developed is basically recreating all those events in environmental situations in my computer using code, and then basically I create, most of them, catastrophical events, not all of them, and I'm choosing the epic moment. This epic moment of the situation, and then I'm basically fabricating them using 3D printers."
Gever's ongoing body of works examines the relationship between the simulated events that he creates and their physical manifestation. According to Gever these pieces mean he feels like he is playing God.
Eyal Gever, artist, said, "By building this simulation in the computer, I'm almost playing a mini god, if you will, by controlling all the parameters, and eventually, I pull back and I let the software do it's magic, it's simulation, and then I'm choosing the right moment to make a piece of sculpture, a work."
According to the artist, the digital revolution will have tremendous impact on the future art world. The 3D exhibition was shown at the Alon Segev Gallery in Tel-Aviv and ended on July the 6th.
