American jazz pianist, Robert Glasper, has been a rising star in the jazz world ever since his debut eight years ago. Despite the acclaim, he says, in many ways he felt like he was performing in a vacuum and yearned for recognition outside the genre.
With the release of his new album "Black Radio," Glasper has changed all that. It was a top seller on iTunes when it was out in February—a rarity for most jazz artists. His collaboration with R&B and hip-hop stars is a world away from the traditional jazz records he's known for. The 34-year-old says he plans to continue making music that blends the various music genres.
