今天放學后，Alice和陸明不期而遇走到了一起，看到了Dick。由于Dick家中富裕，要什么就有什么，揮金如土。像這樣富貴弟子學習就更別提了。Alice評論Dick時，說了一個詞，這個詞是關于動物的，這讓陸明納悶許久。陸明心想自己聽說過黑馬，黑馬就是藏在人群中要成大器的人。可從來也沒聽說過Alice提到的這個黑色的動物，那么Alice提到的是什么黑色的動物呢？我們不妨先來聽聽陸明和Alice在放學的路上的談話內容。
Alice : Dick is a black sheep.
迪克是black sheep.
Luming : Black sheep? What's that, Alice? Black sheep?
（難道是黑羊不成？）Alice，那時什么意思呀？
Alice : The black sheep means the " bad person " in the family.
這里的“黑羊”就是你們漢語中的害群之馬，家中的敗家子。
Luming : Very bad.
真不好。
Alice : As far as I am concerned, Dick is always bringing trouble to his family. All he does is drinking, gambling, and chasing foxy girls, let alone his study how terrible it is.
據我所知，他老是給家人帶來麻煩。他成天就是吃喝嫖賭，甭提他的學習有多糟糕了。
陸明現在知道了“black sheep”的字面意思是“黑羊”，實際上就是我們中文中經常講到的“敗家子”“害群之馬”“不肖子孫”，指家中的一類。 正如Alice所言, it means " a person who is different, in a bad sense, from the rest of his family"那么，我們在來看幾個例子來熟悉Black Sheep這個習語的意思。
Eg. After he had been in prison Peter was regarded as the black sheep of the family.彼得坐過牢之后，被看作是家庭中的不肖子孫。
Eg. Perhaps every profession has got its black sheep.也許每個行業都有害群之馬。
Eg. He was the black sheep of the family after he had got involved in the bank robbery.在他被牽累進銀行搶劫案后，就成了全家的敗家子。
Eg. It is a small flock that has not black sheep.〔諺語〕人多必有敗類。
Eg. There are black sheep in nearly every large family and these two were the Gerard's black brothers.幾乎在每個大家庭里都有孬種，而這兩個就是杰勒德家的孬弟兄。
Eg. They are rather ashamed of George; he is the black sheep of the family.他們為喬治而害臊,他是家里的害群之馬。
