This morning, I am going to talk about a sentence pattern with you. It is : My suggestion is that somebody ( or something ) should do. 這個句式表達的意思是：我的建議是......, 我建議.......。

【主題詳解】

Let's make a sentence to get a grasp of it. Look at this sentence: My suggestion is that we should take the 6:00 train. 我的建議是乘坐6點鐘的火車。這是一個含有表語從句的復合句。主句是：my suggestion is, 從句是：that we should take the 6:00 train。在這個表語從句中，that 是連詞，連接主句和從句，后面的句子使用了虛擬語氣，我們可見謂語結構是：should + take (動詞原形) , 其中should 是可以省略的。省略后即是這個句子：My suggestion is that we take the 6:00 train. 由上可見，含有一個表語從句的復合句中的主句中的主語含有suggestion這個名詞時，表語從句要使用虛擬語氣。此外，這個句子中的一個短語我們要掌握：take the + 時間 + train 乘坐幾點鐘的火車

Look at this one: His suggestion is that bright children ( should ) take their exams early. 他的建議是有天分的小孩提前考試。 我們已經學過了虛擬語氣在suggest后面的賓語從句中的運用，那么我們將以上句子用賓語從句來表述，則是：He has suggested that bight children ( should ) take their exams early. 我們還學過了把這個句子變成被動語態，變為被動語態后就是一個主語從句。Have you remembered？How should we put it? And some sentences including suggestion or suggest can be used in our daily conversation. 1 我馬上就想到了一個解決的辦法。A solution immediately to suggest itself to come. This sentence means " I immediately though of a suggestion. " 2 你言下之意就是說我懶。Are you suggesting I'm lazy? In this sentence , " suggest " means " state indirectly ". 3 我根本就沒有你這樣的想法。I would never suggest such a thing. 4 我們愿意聽取大家的意見。We are open to suggestions.
