Let's make a sentence with this sentence pattern. It is essential to this job that you should have some experience. 你做這項(xiàng)工作必須有經(jīng)驗(yàn)。In this sentence, "essential " means completely necessary or extremely important in a particular situation or for a particular activity. 意為：完全必要的，必不可少的，極其重要的。在此句中it 是形式主語，真實(shí)主語為由that引導(dǎo)的主語從句that you should have some experience. 此主語從句中使用了虛擬語氣，即其謂語形式是：should + 動(dòng)詞原形。其中should可以省略。To this job是做狀語,這里強(qiáng)調(diào)的是“這項(xiàng)工作”這個(gè)事物，而不是“這個(gè)晚會(huì)”這個(gè)事物，好了，現(xiàn)在我們要強(qiáng)調(diào)是“你”，而不是“我”，那怎么改寫這個(gè)句子呢？It is: It is essential to you that some experience for this job should be had. 好了，大家清楚了在這個(gè)句型中it is + adj, + to something ( to somebody ) + that S (should) do. 中的to something 和to somebody的區(qū)別了嗎？從上面的例句可以知道，含有主語從句的復(fù)合句中的主句中的表語也就是形容詞是essential, necessary等這樣表示“必要”的詞語時(shí)，主語從句中要使用虛擬語氣。

【例句及剖析】

Let's look at more example sentences. 1 It is essential that this mission not fail. 這項(xiàng)任務(wù)一定不能失敗。注意此句中not fail的由來。這里是主語從句使用了否定式，原句為that this mission should not fail. 那么should是可以省略的，因此就是句中的not fail。 2 It is not essential to happiness that money be owned. 金錢對(duì)于幸福并非必不可少。這里想必大家都知道主語從句中be的由來了吧，那就不多說了。
