Last time we learned a sentence pattern. It is: 【從句】If S had done, 【主句】S could have done. 這個句式是表示說話者對某人或者是某事在過去的一定的條件下本可以發生的事情而沒有發生或者是在過去的那一種條件下，本不可能發生的事情發生了。那么在這里想說明一下，本可能發生指的是“本有能力可以做成的事情”，而不是指“可能性”，“或許”這個意思。

And this morning, I'd like to share a new sentence pattern with you. It is： 【從句】If + S + had done, 【主句】S + might have done. 這個句式就是說話者對某人或者是某事在過去一定的條件下，對其過去情況的可能性的一種假設，可能會做成的事情但是由于某種條件限制實際上又沒做成功。

If we had found him earlier, we might have saved his life. 如果我們早點到的話，我們或許可以救活他。此句話言外之意就是：We found him late and we didn't save his life.

If I had been less cautious, I might have been more wise. 如果我少一些謹慎，也許我就會多一些明智。此句話言外之意就是：I was more cautious and I was less wise.
