作者簡介:
朗費羅,H.w.(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,1807-1882) 19世紀美國最偉大的浪漫主義詩人之一。1807年2月27日出生于緬因州波特蘭城一個律師家庭。1822年進入博多因學院,與霍桑是同班同學。畢業(yè)后去過法國、西班牙、意大利和德國等地,研究這些國家的語言和文學。1836年開始在哈佛大學講授語言,文學長達十八年,致力于介紹歐洲文化和浪漫主義作家的作品,成為新英格蘭文化中心劍橋文學界和社交界的重要人物。
It Is Not Always May

The sun is bright, - the air is clear,
The darting swallows soar and sing.
And from the stately elms I hear
The bluebird prophesying Spring.
So blue you winding river flows,
It seems an outlet from the sky,
Where waiting till the west-wind blows,
The freighted clouds at anchor lie.
All things are new; - the buds, the leaves,
That gild the elm-tree's nodding crest,
And even the nest beneath the eaves;
There are no birds in last year's nest!
All things rejoice in youth and love,
The fullness of their first delight!
And learn from the soft heavens above
The melting tenderness of night.
Maiden, that read'st this simple rhyme,
Enjoy thy youth, it will not stay;
Enjoy the fragrance of thy prime,
For oh, it is not always May!
Enjoy the Spring of Love and Youth,
To some good angel leave the rest;
For Time will teach thee soon the truth,
