1.Today Lawrence and Jen have met for coffee to talk about how Jen's date with William went.
這一天，Lawrence好Jen在一家咖啡店喝咖啡，他們正討論這Jen與William第一次約會的事呢。

這個句子中的的about的詞尾t屬于在句中輕讀的現象，除非起強調作用時重讀，因為介詞本身沒有含義，屬于結構型詞匯，作用是保持句子的通順流暢。

2.另外，文中當中還會遇到很多生詞，例如a catch，在這里做名詞，意思是“a person that other people see as a good person to marry, employ, etc”即“理想的對象；意中人；雇用的好對象；看中的人”。不過這是個舊式英語的用法。

3.But when I talked to him on the phone, it sounded like he was holding up really well.
這句話當中的hold up意思是“to remain strong and working effectively ”即“支持住；承受住；支撐得住”；

例如：Managed to hold up under the daily stress.
想辦法應付每天的生活壓力

4.present company excluded!
“在場者除外”。

如果你批評一群人，而聽你說話的人也是其中一員的話，你就可以說“你不算，你跟他們不一樣”
