1. mutation n. 變化，突變。
如：
The mutations in plants caused by radiation have been found in experiments.
放射線引起植物變異已在實驗中被證實。
Our teacher has mutation of sounds suddenly.

2. strain [strein] n. 品種，種類，類型。
如：This strain of wheat can grow during a cold spring.

3. sleep deprivation
a form of psychological torture inflicted by depriving the victim of sleep
睡眠剝奪（障礙）也就是失眠，或者說是因種種原因不能達(dá)到按生理要求每個年齡段應(yīng)當(dāng)睡眠的時間。睡眠剝奪包括完全性睡眠剝奪、不完全性睡眠剝奪、選擇性睡眠剝奪、片斷化睡眠和恢復(fù)睡眠。

5. hypothesis n. 假說，假設(shè)。
如：Several conclusions flow from this hypothesis.
從這項假設(shè)中可以得出幾個結(jié)論。
All these fact have borne out the hypothesis.
所有這些事實證明了假設(shè)的正確性。
