1. 在這段對(duì)話中Monica決定要買一臺(tái)電腦了。她問道，Should I build my own system? 我應(yīng)該自己攢一臺(tái)電腦嗎? 但是Brian的建議是Buy a factory model，買一臺(tái)品牌機(jī)，就是a factory model。特別是對(duì)a first-time buyer 初次購買者來說買一臺(tái)a factory model比較方便，因?yàn)?everything is already installed and configured. 所有的東西在出廠前就已經(jīng)安裝和配置好了。 install 安裝，組裝；configured 配置，設(shè)定。
2. preset，就是set加上一個(gè)前綴pre，表示 “預(yù)先組裝”。

5. break down 指電腦出故障，也就是我們常說的 “電腦當(dāng)?shù)袅?。”也可以用crash這個(gè)詞。
6. It's a deal.表示”一言為定”。 或者就簡(jiǎn)單地說一個(gè)詞 Deal! 也可以表示同樣的意義。
7. on display展示，the factory model on display 就是用做樣品的品牌機(jī)。

Brian: Oh, yeah, speakers and an HP LaserJet printer.
Monica: I was just joking.
Brian: It's great value. But maybe you want to add some software.
Monica: First things first. Is there a warranty?
Brian: A one-year warranty, free parts and service.
Monica: What about after that?
Brian: You can still return it to the factory for repair, but for a charge.

10. twelve grand 一萬兩千，grand是俚語，表示數(shù)字 “一千”。就象buck也是一個(gè)俚語，表示 “美元”。twelve grand bucks就是一萬兩千美元。
11. What happened to the original price? 那當(dāng)初的價(jià)錢呢？ What happened to這個(gè)短語很常用，只要事情發(fā)生了變化，就可以用這個(gè)短語。例如： What happened to your old couch? 你的舊雙人沙發(fā)哪去了？
12. You added on several items. add on 表示 “另外加上去”。
13. You'll be set for another fifteen years. be set， 準(zhǔn)備好，安頓好。例如： I'm all set. 我都準(zhǔn)備好了。
