The Christmas Fairy
圣誕仙子
It was the day before Christmas.
那是圣誕節(jié)的前一天。
Two poor little children were out in the woods.
兩個貧窮的小孩正在外面的森林里。
They wanted to find a Christmas tree.
他們想找一棵圣誕樹。
Poor children! They had never had a Christmas tree.
可憐的孩子！他們從來都不曾有過一棵圣誕樹。
"Oh, dear me!" said the little girl.
“哦，天那”！小女孩說。
"We have nothing to put on a tree."
“我們可沒有可以掛到樹上的東西”。
The boy said, "Maybe we can find a tree with cones on it. Cones make a tree very pretty."
男孩說，“或許我們可以找到一棵帶松果的樹。松果會讓樹看起來很漂亮”。
The poor little children looked and looked. But they could not find any trees with cones on them.
可憐的孩子們找啊找、找啊找。但是他們找不到帶松果的樹。
At last night came. It was dark in the big woods, and the children could not find their way home.
后來，天黑下來了。大森林里漆黑一片，孩子們找不到回家的路。
"We are lost," said the little boy.
“我們迷路了”，小男孩說。
"Let us sit here under a tree and wait until morning."
“我們坐到樹下等到天亮吧”。
They were very, very tired, and before long the little girl fell asleep.
他們累極了，不一會兒，小女孩就睡著了。
"I must not go to sleep," said the boy. "I must take care of sister."
“我一定不要睡覺”，男孩說。“我必須照看妹妹”。
He sat there a long, long time.
他在那兒坐了很長、很長的時間。
All at once he saw a light.
突然，他看見一絲亮光。
It grew bigger and bigger.
這亮光越來越大。
"Look, look, little sister!" he cried.
“看吶，妹妹”，他喊道。
"See the beautiful light!"
“看那美麗的亮光”！
Just as the little girl woke up, the children saw a beautiful fairy in the light.
就當(dāng)小女孩醒來的時候，孩子們看到亮光里有一位美麗的仙子。
They had never seen a fairy before and were frightened.
他們以前從來沒有見過仙子，因此都很害怕。
The fairy said, "Don't be frightened. I am the Christmas Fairy.
仙子說，“你們不要害怕。我是圣誕仙子。
The night before Christmas I am always in the woods.
圣誕節(jié)前晚我都會來到這個森林。
I take care of children who come here, and I find the best Christmas trees for them."
我會照顧來這里的孩子們，而且我會給他們找到最好的圣誕樹。”
"Come with me," said the fairy, "and we will find a Christmas tree."
“跟我來”，仙子說，“我們會找到一棵圣誕樹的”。
She took them to a beautiful tree that had many, many cones on it.
她把他們帶到了一棵漂亮的樹前，樹上有很多很多的球果。
Then the fairy said, "Little cones, light the tree."
這時，仙子說，“小松果，照亮樹”。
And all at once each little cone was shining like the sun.
立刻每一顆小松果就像太陽一樣閃閃發(fā)光。
"What a beautiful Christmas tree!" said the children.
“多么漂亮的圣誕樹啊”！孩子們說。
"This is your tree," said the fairy.
“這是你們的圣誕樹了”，仙子說。
"Take it with you, and it will give you light all the way home."
“帶上它，它會一直照亮你們回家的路”。
"Thank you very much, dear fairy," said the happy children.
“非常謝謝您，親愛的仙子”，孩子們高興地說。
Then they took the beautiful tree and soon found their way home.
然后他們帶上那棵漂亮的圣誕樹，很快就找到了回家的路。
They put the tree in the window, and all the people saw the cones shining on Christmas Day.
他們把圣誕樹擺在窗口，圣誕節(jié)那天，人們都看到松果閃閃發(fā)光。
