The Little Errand Girl
跑腿的小女孩
Molly was a happy little girl.
莫莉是一個快樂的小女孩。
She had a father and a mother, a grandfather and a grandmother.
她的家里還有爸爸、媽媽、爺爺和奶奶。
Each of them had some work to do.
他們每個人都有自己的工作。
Father and Grandfather liked to work in the yard.
爸爸和爺爺喜歡在院子里做事。
Mother and Grandmother did the work in the house.
媽媽和奶奶在屋子里干活。
Molly helped them all.
莫莉是他們的好幫手。
She ran errands for them.
她替他們跑腿。
One day Father said, Oh, Molly, will you do an errand for me?
一天，爸爸說，喂，莫莉，你能替我跑一次腿嗎？
Please go to the store and get some grass seed for me.
去商店幫我買一些草籽回來。
Here is the money.
這是買草籽的錢。
Just then Mother called, Oh, Molly, will you do another errand? Please get me some bread.
就在這時，媽媽喊到，喂，莫莉，你能再幫個忙嗎？請幫我買一些面包。
"All right, Mother," said Molly.
“好的，媽媽”，莫莉說。
As she started, she said, "Seed for Father. Bread for Mother."
當她出發的時候，她說，“給爸爸買草籽。給媽媽買面包”。
Just then Grandfather saw Molly going out of the door.
這時，爺爺看見莫莉要出門了。
"Here is some money," he said. "Please get me a ball of string."
“給你些錢”，他說。“請幫我買一個線團”。
Molly took the money.
莫莉接過了錢。
As she started again, she said, "Seed for Father. Bread for Mother. String for Grandfather."
出發的時候，她自言自語說，“給爸爸買草籽。給媽媽買面包。給爺爺買線團”。
Then Grandmother called to her, Please get some pins for me. Here is the money. Don't forget.
就在這時，奶奶向她喊道，請幫我買一些別針。錢在這里。不要忘了啊。
Molly took the money and went on.
莫莉帶著錢繼續往前走。
As she ran to the store, she said, Seed for Father.
她一邊往商店跑，一邊說，給爸爸買草籽。
Bread for Mother. String for Grandfather. Pins for Grandmother.
給媽媽買面包。給爺爺買線團。給奶奶買別針。
Soon she came to the store.
沒過多久，她就來到了商店。
She got the seed, the bread, and the ball of string.
她買了草籽、面包和線團。
But she could not think what Grandmother wanted.
但她想不起來奶奶要買什么了。
"Was it candy?" asked the man.
“是糖果嗎？”售貨員問道。
"Oh, no," said Molly. "I must sit down and try to think."
“哦，不是”，莫莉說?！拔业米聛砗煤孟胂搿?。
So she sat down and thought.
于是，她就坐下來想。
Again and again Molly said, Seed for Father. Bread for Mother.
莫莉一遍又一遍地說，給爸爸買草籽。給媽媽買面包。
String for Grandfather. What for Grandmother?
給爺爺買線團。給奶奶買什么呢？
Then all at once Molly saw a pin on the floor. Up she jumped.
這時，莫莉突然在地板上看到了一根別針。她跳了起來。
"Pins for Grandmother!" she cried.
“給奶奶買別針”！她喊到。
"Now I know what she wants."
“現在我知道她想買什么了”。
So Molly got the pins and ran home.
于是，莫莉買了別針跑回了家。
Molly ran into the house.
莫莉跑進了屋子。
Mother, Father, Grandmother, and Grandfather were ready to sit down at the supper table.
媽媽、爸爸、奶奶和爺爺正準備坐在餐桌前吃晚飯。
"Molly, dear, you are just in time with my bread," said Mother.
“莫莉，親愛的，你剛好把我要的面包買回來了”，媽媽說。
"You got my seed," said Father.
“給我買了草籽”，爸爸說。
"And my string," said Grandfather.
“還有我的線團”，爺爺說。
"And my pins," said Grandmother.
“還有我的別針”，奶奶說。
Then Grandfather took some money from his pocket and said, Here, Molly.
這時候，爺爺從他的口袋里拿出一些錢說，給你，莫莉。
Tomorrow you may go to the store and do an errand for Molly.
明天你可以去商店，為自己跑一次腿。
