The story of Nian
年獸的故事
1. Nian is a monster.
1. 年獸是一個怪物。
He lives in the hills.
他住在山里。
At the end of every year, he goes into the village and eats people!
在每年年末，他進入村里吃人！
2. One day, an old man comes to the village.
2. 一天，一位老人來到這個村里。
Nian is afraid of the colour red.
年獸害怕紅色。
3. Soon it is the last day of the year.
3. 不久就是這年的最后一天。
Nian comes down from the hills.
年獸從山上下來。
He sees red paper on the doors and windows.
他看見門上、窗戶上張貼著紅紙，
He also sees red firecrackers.
他也看到紅色的爆竹。
He feels afraid and runs back into the hills.
他感到害怕，就逃回了山里。
4. The people in the village never see Nian again.
4. 從此村子里的人們再也沒見過年獸。
They use red things and light firecrackers at the Spring Festival every year.
每年春節他們都使用紅色的東西并燃放爆竹。
