Mrs. Herscher and family, honorable guests, good evening. We are assembled here to give recognition to an outstanding member of our community, Harold Herscher. Harold is not only a role model as a husband and father; he has also been a pillar of the town where he was born and grew up. He attended our community college and earned a degree in social services. Afterwards, he chose to remain here among family and friends and contribute his unlimited energy to those around him. In addition to being a full-time teacher at the college, he is also a part-time volunteer fireman, a contribution that once almost took him away from us. He joins a long and noble list of selfless individuals who tried to help others. Accordingly, it is my honor as mayor to award Harold Herscher with our town's Person of the Year Award.
