第二節 語音學 Phonetics

一、 語音學的分支

1． 發音語言學Articulatory phonetics：研究語音產生的方式，這是普通語言學主要研究的分支

2. 聲學語言學Acoustic phonetics

3. 聽覺語言學Auditory phonetics

二、 語音學中兩個重要概念

1． 言語語音Speech sounds：

是語音學研究的對象，亦可叫做音段Segment或者音素Phone；

分為兩種：輔音consonants 和元音vowels

2． 發音器官Speech organs：

聲帶the Vocal Cords：位于咽喉the Larynx中，咽喉突出的部分較喉結The Adam’s Apple

三個回聲腔：咽腔the Pharynx、口腔the oral cavity和鼻腔the nasal cavity

三、 關于輔音Consonants

1．概念：發音過程中產生了氣流阻塞的那些音There is an obstruction of the air at some point of the vocal tract.

2．分類：三類劃分——發音部位Places of articulation 、發音方式Manners of articulation和清濁特征

(1)按照發音部位places：

唇間音bilabial：/p/ /b/ /m/ /w/

唇齒音labio-dental：/f/ /v/

齒間音dental：/ 6/ /咬舌Z/

牙齦音alveolar：/t/ /d/ /s/ /z/ /n/ /l/ /r/

齦腭音alveo-palatal/post-alveolar：

硬腭音Palatal：/師/ /3/ /ts/ /d3/ /j/

喉音glottal：/h/

(2)按照發音方式manners

完全阻塞輔音complete obstruction/爆破音plosives/stops: /p/, /b/ /t/, /d/ /k/, /g/

鼻音nasals：/m/ /n/ /n長/

擦音fricatives：/f/ /v/ /s/ /z/ /師/ /3/ /6/ /咬舌z/ /h/

破擦音affricates：/ts/ /d3/

流音liquids : /r/ /l/

滑音/半元音glides/simivowels：/w/ /j/

接近輔音approximants

中央流音central

邊流音lateral：

3． 特征：

(1)清濁特征Voicing

濁輔音voiced consonants 清輔音voiceless consonants

體現形式：聲帶是否震動in the vibration of the vocal cords

E.g：/p/ 和/d/

(2)送氣特征Aspiration

articulated with a strong air stream pushing out

只有爆破音和破擦音有送氣與否的區別

不造成詞義改變，是非區別性特征

E.g：/p/ 在please中送氣，在speak中不送氣

(3)區別性特征Distinctive Features

可以用來區分不同音位（phonetic voicing）如清濁特征，但送氣特征就不是

區別性特征一般都是雙元Binary的(+voicing/ -voicing)

四、 關于元音Vowels

1．概念：發音中沒有出現任何氣流阻塞的音A sound pronounced with no obstruction of the air stream

2．分類：舌翹位置the part of the tongue that is raised、舌高the extent to which the tongue rises和嘴唇的形狀the shape of the lips

舌翹：front——/i/ /e/ /a/；back——/o/ /u/ 舌高：high——/i/ /u/；mid——/e/ /o/；low——/a/ 唇形：unrounded——/i/ /e/ /a/；rounded——/o/ /u/

/a/: front, low, unrounded /e/:front, mid,un rounded /i/: front, high, unrounded /o/: back, mid, rounded /u/: back, mid, rounded

3. 標準元音Cardinal vowels：由一組任意確定的元音組成，這些元音都是作為抽象的單位存在，為描述現實語音中的元音提供一個參考框架，由瓊斯提出。

4. 雙元音Diphthongs：有兩個音組成——純元音pure vowel+短促的滑音brief gliding sound，由前音滑向后音，又稱元音過渡Vowel Glides

五、 其他相關概念

1. 語音同化Co-articulation或Assimilation：在一個語音群中，一個語音總會帶上其附近語音的某種性質，這個現象就成為語音同化。最明顯的就是鼻化，如can一詞中，a的音會帶上后面的鼻音n

2. 國際音標圖IPA chart：全稱是International Phonetic Alphabet，由國際語音協會IPA=International Phonetic Association在1888年首次確定
