But Cheryl couldn't have anticipated being upstaged（搶鏡頭） by her own mother Joan Callaghan, 49, who forwent knickers for the occasion.

The Coles and Joan joins a host of the singer's celebrity pals at the party, including Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Girls Aloud bandmembers Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts.

But by the end of the night, it was Joan who was causing the biggest stir among the assembled paparazzi（攝影師） as her desperation to keep up with the young ones became all too obvious.

Keen to show her still-petite figure in a sweatshirt grey bandeau dress, the 49-year-old unwisely decided to step out without any underwear. If she were worried about VPL - visible panty line - surely a thong would have provided adequate cover.
