If you want the attention off you in a conversation, get familiar with open-ended questions. Encourage others to talk so you won’t have to make the idle chit-chat. Ask questions that require more than a yes or no answer and you may open the door to invite the other person to keep the conversation going.

在一個對話交談中，如果你想把注意力從自己身上轉移開，就要熟悉一些開放式問題。鼓勵別人去多說，這樣你就不必說些家長里短的話了。問一些需要不只“是/否”回答的問題，這樣你就敞開大門邀請別人參與，讓對話進行下去了。

Most people really enjoy talking about themselves. Ask a question about a person’s career, hobbies, or family. Show you’re interested in hearing what is being said.

大部分人真的喜歡對自己大加討論，問一下對方關于職業、愛好或家庭方面的問題。你要對別人的說話內容表現出有興趣去聽的狀態。

例句：

Those familiar with Sanders call him a consummate politician.

Everyone must be familiar with the old favourite among roses, Crystal Palace.

Everyone is familiar with the TV screen's hypnotic power.

大家都很熟悉電視屏幕的吸引力。

be interested in 對…感興趣；

例句：

It bothered me that boys weren't interested in me.

男孩子們對我不感興趣令我很煩惱。

Can I just ask something 'cos I'm really quite interested in this.

我能不能問個問題，因為我對這個真的很感興趣。

We're interested in the source of these fictitious rumours.

我們對這些子虛烏有的謠言從何而來很感興趣。
