周四，已退役的跨欄明星劉翔在微博中宣布與演員妻子葛天離婚，引發(fā)網(wǎng)絡(luò)轟動(dòng)。

【講解】

star hurdler是跨欄明星；divorce是離婚。
曾在2004年雅典奧運(yùn)會(huì)上奪得110米欄冠軍（won gold in the 110m hurdles）的劉翔結(jié)婚九個(gè)月后便離婚。
劉翔微博原文：“我與葛天2014年5月戀愛(ài)（fall in love with each other），同年9月結(jié)婚（get married），婚后因性格不合（due to incompatibility in our personalities），于今天結(jié)束這段婚姻（end the marriag），希望今后各自都有更美好的人生（hoping we shall each have (a) more beautiful life in the future），祝愿彼此（wish each other the best in the future）。”
在劉翔發(fā)布離婚這條微博后的短短40分鐘，網(wǎng)友的評(píng)論（comment）和轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)（forward）共計(jì)突破了10萬(wàn)，大部分網(wǎng)友力挺支持劉翔，稱尊重他的決定（respect individual decisions），同時(shí)希望大家尊重名人的隱私（respect for celebrities' privacy）。
5月中旬劉翔在上海八萬(wàn)人體育場(chǎng)舉行退役（retirement）儀式，葛天沒(méi)有現(xiàn)身，劉翔的發(fā)言中也沒(méi)有提到新婚妻子（without mentioning his wife in speeches）。回應(yīng)劉翔退役，葛天的態(tài)度也非常冷漠。而且兩人的微博居然沒(méi)有互相關(guān)注（not following each other via Weibo）。似乎這一切，早已預(yù)示著這一天的到來(lái)。
根據(jù)福布斯的記錄，從2003年到2014年，劉翔的收入達(dá)到了5.35億人民幣，這包括了廣告代言（advertising）和體育比賽等收入。劉翔宣布離婚后，財(cái)產(chǎn)如何分割（division of property，財(cái)產(chǎn)分割）也備受關(guān)注。
