Fifty Dollars Is Fifty Dollars
50塊錢就是50塊錢
Ferber and his wife Martha went to the fair every year. Every year Ferber would say, "Martha, I'd like to ride in that airplane."
費伯和妻子瑪莎每年都去市集。每年費伯都會說：“瑪莎，我想坐那架飛機。”
And every year Martha would say, "I know Ferber, but that airplane ride costs fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars."
而瑪莎每年都會這樣回答他：“費伯，我知道你想坐那架飛機，可是坐飛機要花50塊錢呢，50塊錢啊。”
One year Ferber and Martha went to the fair and Ferber said, "Martha, I'm 71 years old. If I don't ride that airplane this year I may never get another chance."
一年，費伯和瑪莎又來到市集，費伯說：“瑪莎，我已經71歲了，我今年要是不坐飛機的話，我就再沒機會坐了。”
Martha replied, "Ferber, that airplane ride costs fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars."
瑪莎答道：“費伯，坐那架飛機要花50塊錢呢，50塊錢啊。”
The pilot overheard them and said, "Folks, I'll make you a deal, I'll take you both up for a ride. If you can stay quiet for this entire ride and not say one word, I won't charge you, but if you say one word it's fifty dollars."
飛行員聽到了他們的談話，走上前來說：“兩位，我跟你們做個交易吧，我讓你們兩個都坐飛機。如果你們在整個飛行期間都能不說一句話，我就不收你們錢。可是如果你們說了一個字，我就要收50塊錢了。”
Ferber and Martha agreed and up they went. The pilot did all knids of twists and turns, rolls and dives, but not a word was heard. He did all his tricks over again, but still not a word.
費伯和瑪莎同意了，他們上了飛機。飛行員做了各種翻滾和俯沖的動作，可是他沒聽到他們發出一聲。于是他把所有的特技動作又來了一遍，可還是沒聽他們吭一聲。
They landed and the pilot turned to Ferber, "By golly, I did everything I could think of to get you to yell out, but you didn't."
著陸后，飛行員對費伯說：“天哪，我做了所有的特技，我想你們會叫出來的，可是你們竟然一聲沒吭。”
Ferber replied, "Well, I was gonna say something when Martha fell out, but fifty dollars is fifty dollars."
費伯答道：“瑪莎掉出去時，我是應該說一聲的，可是要50塊錢呢，50塊錢啊。”
