索馬里海盜Somali Pirates
Katrina K. Finally, a modern example of originality at work occurred just this past April during a hijacking attempt by Somali pirates. An American ship, the Maersk Alabama, was sailing from the United States bringing relief aid to Kenya when it was intercepted by armed Somali pirates. Rather than giving into the pirates' demands and joining over 20 other ships from various countries taken hostage by the pirates in 2009,the 20-man crew and Captain Richard Phillips decided to fight back. When dealing with issues of survival, the capacity for originality in the human mind is incredible. The unarmed crew fought off Somali pirates with machine guns by utilizing ship tools and finally locking themselves in the engine room in order to maintain control of the ship. Later in a sticky hostage situation involving Capt Phillips, the U.S. Marines cleverly come up with new ideas to negotiate with the pirates and trick them into a dead end, saving the captain and crew.
