10. fastidious：它有兩層意思(1)giving careful attention to detail; hard to please 因為要求高而難以取悅。A fastidious person has high standards but is more concerned with quality than speed.(2)挑食的 fastidious <> voracious (貪吃的)，greedy，gluttonous
稍微區別以下meticulous， careful， painstaking， scrupulous， fastidious， punctilious這些形容詞都指對所有方面或細節表示注意或以這種注意為特征的。
(1)Meticulous ：stresses extreme, sometimes exaggerated care for small details:
Meticulous 強調極度的，有時是過分的對于小細節的關心：
“He had throughout been almost worryingly meticulous in his business formalities” “他一直對他的業務手續表現出幾乎是擔心一樣的極度細心”
(2)Careful suggests the exercise of attention, circumspection, and solicitude:
Careful 意味著運用注意力、細心和關心：
A careful examination of the antique bronze showed it to be a forgery.
對古董銅像的仔細檢查證明它是件贗品。
(3)Painstaking means extremely careful:
Painstaking 意味著極度細心：
The skillful repair of fine lace entails slow and painstaking work.

(4)Scrupulous suggests care prompted by conscience:
Scrupulous 表示出于良知的細心：
“Cynthia was scrupulous in her efforts to give no trouble” (Winston Churchill).

(5)Fastidious implies concern, often excessive, for the requirements of taste:

(6)Punctilious specifically applies to strict, exact attention to minute details of conduct:

這道題難度比較大，很多同學可能即便選了E，也不知道為什么選E，至于這道題的解題方法填空老師會講，在這里我們看以下為什么D是不正確的，已經說了fastidious是對高品質的追求而引起的相當苛刻的，所以不是貶義。在這里fastidious的人絕對不會容忍garbled(篡改的)reporting的。
這里的trouble就是指這個人因為cantankerous(好爭吵)而引起的trouble，但是這個人的仔細還有徹底完工的精神是 worth the trouble(值得這個麻煩的)
Cantankerous (cant,黑話+ank，anger生氣)所以說是好爭吵的
