Unit 19 Old Drivers
第19單元 老司機(jī)
Two elderly women were out driving in a large car. Neither could they see over the dashboard.
兩個(gè)上了年紀(jì)的婦人開著一輛大車上路，兩個(gè)人的高度都只到儀表板。
As they were cruising along they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red but they just went on through.
她們開著車兜風(fēng)，不久便來(lái)到一個(gè)十字路口；交通標(biāo)志閃的是紅燈，可是她們就這樣闖了過(guò)去。
The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself,"I must be losing it, I could have sworn we just went through a red light."
坐在乘客座上那個(gè)婦人心想：“雖然沒(méi)看清楚，但是我敢發(fā)誓剛才闖了紅燈。”
After a few more minutes, they came to another intersection and the light was red again and again they went right through.
過(guò)了幾分鐘，她們又來(lái)到另一個(gè)十字路口，交通標(biāo)志一樣閃著紅燈，她們還是一樣闖了過(guò)去。
This time the woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it.
這回乘客座上的婦人幾乎可以肯定剛才是紅燈，但還是很擔(dān)心是自己看錯(cuò)了。
She was getting nervous and decided to pay very close attention to the road and the next intersection to see what was going on.
她很緊張，決定專心看路，看看下個(gè)十字路口到底會(huì)發(fā)生什么事。
At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they went right through.
到了下個(gè)十字路口，交通標(biāo)志的的確確閃的是紅燈，她們又闖了過(guò)去。
She turned to the other woman and said, "Mildred,did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row! You could have killed us."
她轉(zhuǎn)身對(duì)另一名婦人說(shuō)道：“蜜德莉，你知道我們剛連續(xù)闖了三個(gè)紅燈嗎？你這樣開車會(huì)把我們兩個(gè)害死的。”
Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh shit, am I driving?"
蜜德莉轉(zhuǎn)身對(duì)她說(shuō)：“哦，該死，開車的是我嗎？”
