That evening when he got back from work, Uncle Vernon did something he'd never done before; he visited Harry in his cupboard.
當天晚上，在弗農姨父下班后，他破滅荒的第一次拜訪了住在柜子里的哈利。
"Where's my letter? said Harry, the moment Uncle Vernon had squeezed through the door.
"我的信在哪里？"弗農姨父一鉆進柜子哈利就問道。
"Who's writing to me? "No one. It was addressed to you by mistake, said Uncle Vernon shortly.
"是誰寫過來的？"不知道。是出了錯信才會寄給你的。"弗農姨父簡短地解釋。
"I have burned it· "It was not a mistake," said Harry angrily, "it had my cupboard on it· "SILENCE!? yelled Uncle Vernon, and a couple of spiders fell from the ceiling.
"我已經把它燒了。"沒弄錯。"哈利生氣地說，"要不他怎么知道我住在柜子里。"別出聲！"弗農姨父尖叫道。這時幾只蜘蛛從柜子頂上掉落下來。
He took a few deep breaths and then forced his face into a smile, which looked quite painful.
他深深的吸了幾口氣，強迫自己擠出一絲笑容，看得出來非常勉強。
"Er, yes, Harry, about this cupboard.
"這樣的，哈利，關于這問題。
Your aunt and I have been thinking... you're really getting a bit big for it... we think it might be nice if you moved into Dudley's second bedroom."Why? said Harry.
我已經和你的姨媽考慮過了!它對你來說確實是小了一點!我們認為你最好能搬到達力的第二間臥室去。"為什么？"哈利問。
"Don't ask questions!? snapped his uncle. "Take this stuff upstairs, now·The Dursleys' house had four bedrooms:
"不要問問題！"弗農姨父打斷了他，"趕快收拾你的東西上樓！"杜斯利家一共有四間臥室：
one for Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, one for visitors (usually Uncle Vernon's sister, Marge), one where Dudley slept, and one where Dudley kept all the toys and things that wouldn't fit into his first bedroom.
一間是杜斯利夫婦住的，一間是給客人住的（通常是維能的妹妹瑪姬）。剩下的一間是達力睡覺用的，另一間是給達力放第一間臥室放不下的玩具的。
It only took Harry one trip upstairs to move everything he owned from the cupboard to this room.
哈利只用了一趟就把他柜子里的所有東西搬到樓上的房間去了。
He sat down on the bed and stared around him. Nearly everything in here was broken.

Other shelves were full of books. They were the only things in the room that looked as though they'd never been touched.
其它架于放滿了書。它們是整間房子唯一看上去沒有被碰過的東西。
From downstairs came the sound of Dudley bawling at his mother, I don't want him in there... I need that room... make him get out... Harry sighed and stretched out on the bed.
樓下傳來達力的聲音："我不想他住在那里!那間房是我的!讓他滾出去!"哈利嘆了一口氣倒在床上。
Yesterday he'd have given anything to be up here. Today he'd rather be back in his cupboard with that letter than up here without it.
