文章講解
I was being tested for a driving licence for the third time. I had been asked to drive in heavy traffic and had done so successfully. After having been instructed to drive out of town, I began to acquire confidence. Sure that I had passed, I was almost beginning to enjoy my test. The examiner must have been pleased with my performance, for he smiled and said. 'Just one more thing, Mr.Eames. Let us suppose that a child suddenly crosses the road in front of you. As soon as I tap on the window, you must stop within five feet.' I continued driving and after some time, the examiner tapped loudly, Though the sound could be heard clearly, it took me a long time to react. I suddenly pressed the brake pedal and we were both thrown forward. The examiner looked at me sadly. 'Mr.Eames,' he said, in a mournful voice, 'you have just killed that child!'

Why do people make fun of Chinese people?
The main reason is because people see Asians as easy targets. They don’t care whether you’re Korean, Japanese, Mongolian, they would still consider you as Chinese.
In the west, there’s a stereotype that Asian men are nerds, weak, short, and skinny. So that’s what bullies do, they make fun of Chinese because there is no consequence in doing so. They would assume that you would stay low and not fight them back. On the other hand, blacks are stereotyped as aggressive and strong. People would usually think twice before making fun of a black person.
The solution to this problem is pretty simple, just start lifting weights and eat more protein.
That’s not the only factor. Asians are seen as model minority in the US, people think we are privileged (There’s no such thing as Asian privilege). People assume that racism only applies to blacks, Arabs, Mexicans, but not Asians. If a guy makes fun of a black person, he would be considered as racist, ignorant, but if he does the same thing toward an Asian guy, then the guy is humorous. You tell him that he’s racist, and he would call you oversensitive and tell you to learn how to take a joke.
We can blame our history teachers for this. History talks mainly about Jewish prosecution, Holocaust, black slavery, but they never talk about racism toward Asians. They never talk about the Japanese internment camps, Yellow Peril propaganda (Search that on google), Chinese exclusion act, Chinese forced to build railroads and many of them died. Even if they do, they talk very little about it. As a result, no one knows that there’s such thing as racism toward Asians.
Another factor is that there are too many Asians “Uncle Tom”
Uncle Tom
They usually tell others that they’re Asians but they’re not offended. If you’re this type of Asian, you’re just making things worse for us. You might be fine with those racist jokes, but this would kill your children’s self-esteem one day, and what they do is they would be ashamed of being Asian.
Lastly, we are outnumbered and don’t have the power to do anything. How many Asians are there in the US? like 4–5%? and it is still divided into South Asians, South East Asians who have nothing to do with East Asian jokes. Even if we shout racism, no one would listen to us.
Edit: I didn’t expect to get so many views. Thank you everyone. I am going to disable the comment, because some people wrote some racist statements and denying racism.
