David：Thanks! I can't take credit for it though. It was all Olivia.

Elvin：She's got great taste! Where is she?

David：She's upstairs getting ready. We'll give you the Grand Tour when she's here. But first can I offer you a beer? Wine?

Elvin：I'm driving, just a soda for me please.

語言剖析

1. you make it
you make it 你到啦！
這在社交場合，比如聚會和晚宴“making it”不一定表示你在做什么東西, 而是表示到達目的地，就像我們中文說'你到啦', '你來啦'。盡管這個表達方式在社交場合常用，不過別的情況下也能用。
I’m sick. I don’t think I can make it to work today. 我病了。我覺得我今天不能去上班了。
Traffic is terrible today. I don’t think I’ll make it on time.可是今天交通真差。我覺得我不能按時到了。

3. 文化6：帶禮物去家宴
When invited to a home dinner party, it's common courtesy to bring a small gift to show appreciation for the hosts. The most common gifts include wine, flower, cheese or dessert, things that guests could all enjoy at the party.
如果被邀請去家宴，那最好帶一些小禮物表達對主人的感謝。最常見的禮物有: 紅酒、花、奶酪和甜品。總之帶一些大家在party上能一起分享的禮物是不會出錯的。

4. 客套話
Elvin you shouldn’t have! 指的是Oh ，Elvin you shouldn’t have brought the wine here. 你本不需要帶紅酒過來。言下之意就是你太破費了！
leave your shoes on. Let me take your jackets. “不用脫鞋子”，“把外套給我”等都是非常常用的客套用語，以盡地主之儀。

Set我們的印象里好像只有設置的意思，其實set有很多意思，在這句話中set是名詞形式，表示group，一群人，時尚一族叫做the smart set 殺馬特群體；set還可以表示一套，一副，如a set of six chairs 六把成套的椅子；一副象棋，a chess set

5. take credit for it
take credit for it 表示因某事而受到贊揚
前兩天，來英舉行了英文演講比賽，某班獲得了團隊冠軍，班長上臺發表獲獎漢語的時候說，I can’t take all the credit for today’s game: I’ve got a great team behind me.我不能獨享今天比賽的榮譽：我背后有一個團隊。為這么一位優秀的班長點贊！

6. She’s got great taste!
She’s got great taste! 她真有品味！
前這里的taste并不是表示食物 food哦，而是表示對于fashion /cloth style/decoration的品味。Wow, your mom has great taste in music!哇，你媽媽音樂的品位真好！

7. How could I resist?
How could I resist? 這怎么能拒絕呢？
反問的語句比常見的OK更能體現欣然接受的心情，所以當別人向你發出邀請的時候你也可以用How could I resist?表示欣然接受。
