Grandson: Grannie, what's the course of cornmeal called?
孫子：奶奶，這道玉米粉做的餅叫什么呀？
Grandma: Oh, it's hushpuppy.
奶奶：叫油炸玉米餅呀。（注：這個(gè)詞由兩個(gè)英語單詞合成而來，拆開來的字面意思是"安靜，狗狗"）
Grandson: Hushpuppy? Sounds interesting. Why does it contain "puppy" in its name?
孫子：油炸玉米餅？挺有意思的。為什么它的名字里面含有"狗狗"呢？
Grandma: I heard one version of the story. There's an African cook in Atlanta. One day, when he is frying cornmeal and catfish one day, a puppy began to howl. In order to make the puppy quiet, he gave it a bowl of cornmeal and ordered, "Hush, puppy." Then, the name becomes popular.
奶奶：我聽過這道菜由來的一個(gè)故事。從前，在亞特蘭大有個(gè)非洲廚師。一天，他在油炸玉米餅和鯰魚的時(shí)候，一只小狗朝他叫了起來。為了讓這個(gè)小狗狗保持安靜，他給了它一碗玉米餅，然后下令"安靜，小狗"。從此，這個(gè)名字就流傳開來啦。
Grandson: Ha, that's interesting!
孫子：哈哈，真有意思啊！
Grandma: Oh, yeah. But I think "hushpuppy" is better to be called "hushteddy " at home, as you're always singing and dancing around when I fry hushpuppies for you.
奶奶：哦，是啊！不過我覺得在我們家，這道菜更適合叫"安靜泰德"，因?yàn)椋看挝艺灲o你吃的時(shí)候，你總在一旁手舞足蹈。
