在今天的課上，我們來學習關于nod的用法。我們想表示“朝著某人點頭示意”“對著某人點頭致意”，我們可以用它來表示。那么如何具體運用呢？Let’s look at the following examples：
e.g. The president nodded to the crowd as he passed in the motorcade. 當總統的軍隊經過時，他向人群點頭致意。
e.g. She nodded at him to begin speaking. 她點頭示意他開始發言。
在Example-1中，表示“向某人致意”，用的是nod to sb. ，而在Example-2中，表示這個意思則是用nod at sb.。由此，我們可以看到表示朝著某人點頭的那個人具體是誰，就需要在其后面使用介詞to或者是at，即：nod at /to sb.。To nod to/at someone means “to move your head down and up once to say hello to sb. or give them sign to do something”.
我們來關心一下Example-2，句中nod at him to begin speaking，意思是“點頭示意他發言”。那么，表示“點頭示意某人做某事”，我們就可以用到這個結構nod at sb. to do sth.，其中的to do sth.從整個句子中來看是做目的狀語。Let’s look at another example：
e.g. He lifted the end of the canoe, nodding to me to take up mine. 他一邊抬起獨木舟的一端，一邊揚頭示意我抬起我這端。
這個例句中，nodding to me to take up mine意思是“點頭示意叫我抬起這端”。此外，nodding to me to take up mine是現在分詞做伴隨狀況狀語。
