英語里有不少成語和俗語都是和人體各個部份的名稱相聯(lián)系的，有的和頭，有的和眼睛、鼻子、手和腳有關(guān)的。

今天我們來學(xué)習(xí)一個跟脖子有關(guān)pain in the neck。Pain 這個字大家都知道是痛的意思。 Neck 是指脖子。但是，pain in the neck 并不是脖子痛的意思，pain in the neck 是說某人很討厭。這個俗語非常普遍，你每天都可以聽到美國人這么說:"He's a real pain in the neck." 這就是說："那個人真討厭。"

下面這個例子是一個飯館的老板在說某個顧客：

例句-1: "I want to run and hide every time I see that woman come into my place. A real pain in the neck; she's always complaining about the food and the service."

這位老板說："每當我看到那個女人來到我飯館的時候，我總是想拔腿就跑，到什么地方去躲起來。她可真是討厭，老是抱怨不是飯菜不好，就是服務(wù)不好。"

Pain in the neck 不是一定要針對別人說的，有時還可以用在自己身上。

下面是一個很不高興的爸爸在對兒子說話：

例句-2:"I don't want to be a pain in the neck, son, but I've reminded you a dozen times already to clean up your room. Better do it tonight, or you can't use the car this weekend."

這個爸爸說："兒子，我并不想讓你討厭，但是我已經(jīng)提醒你幾十次了，要你把房間整理乾凈。你還是今天晚上把房間打掃干凈的好，否則，這個周末你就別想用汽車。"
