6. Stop beating around the bush!
不要再拐彎抹角了!

從前的人打獵拿東西敲擊樹叢, 把一些躲在其中的獵物嚇出來, 這就是 beat the bush. 衍生為一個人說話不直接, 拐彎抹角, 這時你就可以跟他說, Stop beating around the bush! 我個人也很害怕有種人, 他跟你說一件事, 一定會從這件事的三天前說起, 把整件事的前因后果都說了, 唯恐你有任何明細聽不懂. 通常我遇到這種人我也是無可耐何.

7. I just turn away!
我轉頭過去就好了.

有一次看到一個老美正要脫鞋子, 他就問隔壁的人 Would you mind? 隔壁的人就回答, I just turn away. 說畢就掉頭到一邊, 看到這個動作, 我才知道 turn away 就是轉頭過去的意思.

8. You should get your butt into gear.
你不要再混了.

Gear 就是指車子上的排檔. 把你的 butt 放入檔位, 意謂著你該開始動工了, 不要再混下去了. 還有一個用法也是老美跟我說過的, You should get cracking. 意思上跟 get your butt into gear 是一樣的.

9. It is just a matter of time.
那只不過是時間問題而已.

這樣的說法在中文也常用, 那只不過是時間早晚的問題而已. 該注意的是, 什么樣的問題, 在這里是用 It is a matter of something, 而不是 It is a question of something. 這句話在電影 Eyes wide shut 里出現過一次, 說一個有毒癮的人會出事, It is just a matter of time.

10. I don't know how my weekend is going to shape up yet.
我還不知道我的周末要作什么.

Shpae up 就是成形, 也就是說還沒有什么具體的方案. 這句也可以簡單地說, I still have no plan so far.
