——奉獻后元音[ α ]
【英美音的區別】
美音[α]和英音[α：]所使用的音標不同，但發音基本相同。
注意元音字母 “o” 在重讀閉音節中美音和英音的不同發音，例如box, fox, cop, 又比如got, lot, common, possible等，美音把上述音節中的字母 “o” 念作[α]，英音則念作[ ]，這是英美發音重大差別的又一例。不過，在有些詞中如boss, lost, dog, wash中元音字母 “o” 的美音讀法也存在既可念[α]也可念[ ]的情況。例如dog一詞讀成[d α g]或[dg ]都可以。這類詞為數不多，發音有困難時最好查一下詞典。
