10月12日，日本一女性消費者購買煙臺北海食品有限公司出口日本的冷凍青刀豆，食用后感到不適。經日方檢測，其食用的豆角中最高含有6900PPM的敵敵畏成分，其他未開封豆角未檢出敵敵畏成分。該公司有關負責人說，這一批號產品的原料在種植時，沒有使用過這次被檢出的有機磷農藥，工廠和基地也從來沒有使用過這類農藥。

Tests conducted on samples of frozen green beans exported to Japan showed no evidence of pesticide residue, Chinese authorities said here yesterday.

中國政府昨日表示，出口日本的冷凍青刀豆樣品檢測結果并未顯示有農藥殘留痕跡。

上面的報道中，residue 是 matter that remains after something has been removed，即“殘留、殘余，剩余”等意思，這里的 pesticide residue 就是“農藥殘留（物）”。除此以外，residue 還有“剩余財產，余數”等意思，比如：The residue of his estate belongs to his son.（他的剩余財產都歸他的兒子。）
