Passage 1 中國人民改變了自己的命運

95年前，中國人民通過辛亥革命推翻了統治中國幾千年的君主專制制度，為中國的進步打開了閘門；57年前，中國人民經過長期浴血奮斗，實現了民族獨立和人民解放，建立了人民當家作主的新中國；28年前，中國人民開始了改革開放和現代化建設的偉大歷史進程，經過艱苦創業取得了舉世矚目的巨大成就。從1978年到2005年，中國的國內生產總值從1473億美元增加到22257億美元，進出口總額從206億美元增長到14221億美元，國家的外匯儲備從1.67億美元增加到8189億美元，農村的貧困人口從25000萬人減少到2300多萬人。回顧這160多年中國發生的滄桑巨變，可以說中國人民經過艱苦探索和頑強奮斗，既改變了自己的命運，也推動了人類進步事業。

Passage 2 the United Nations is facing the challenges

Mr. President we meet at a time when United Nations facing difficulties and doubts. The capability of the United Nations is often being a question. Despite crises and shortcomings, the UN always stood these tests. The United Nations is indispensable in 1945, and it still is. Global security can not be reached by unilateral action. Logging ourselves in, we are not bringing peace, development, democracy or respect for human rights. We must work together to define and address emerging challenges or multilateral solutions. The Secondary General recently said, “we can no longer take it for granted that our multilateral institutions are strong enough to cope with all the challenges facing ?.”
