Too curious
Before theconclusionof theconcert, Marianne slipped to theConcessionStand for an ice creamcone. When she was there she overheard two menconferringtogether about their lack ofconfidencein arresting someone at the end of the performance. Marianneconcentratedmore to see if she could understand their words. It was none of herconcern, of course, but this type ofconductwas typical for Marianne.
The name of the person that wasconferredupon was too much for her to bear, however, and she bad toconfessto herself that this was something she really shouldn't know. As she walked back to her chair she wascondemningherself already for being so curious.
Condemnationnever worked with Marianne, unfortunately, and she suddenly had theconceptionto warn the individual. She could notcondonehis arrest; he was too nice of a friend and a good neighbor.
She stood again and, planning to speakcondolencesfor the death of the son this man had recently lost, she stepped across theconcretestairway that separated her from the man who would soon be arrested. This walkway was notconduciveto Marianne' s shoes, however, and she tripped and fell. She tried to grab a hand to stop her, but she only succeeded in pulling a cup of coffee with too muchcondensedmilk across her new dress. And then she passed out.
When Marianne awoke she had noconceptof where she was. Eventually she rose to see that everyone was gone and only one kind gentleman was left to help her. She frowned when she realized that her effort to held that man had failed. He had been arrested for sure!

過于好奇
