World Car Free Day was first started by over 30 cities in France on September 22, 1998. It was started to protect the environment. By now, more than 1,000 cities around the world have had a Car Free Day.
1998年9月22日，法國(guó)30多個(gè)城市發(fā)起了世界無(wú)車日活動(dòng)。活動(dòng)的最初目的是為了保護(hù)環(huán)境。到目前為止，全球已有1000多個(gè)城市實(shí)現(xiàn)了無(wú)車日。
The first Car Free Day in China was in Chengdu in 2001. Other cities including Taipei, Shanghai, and Wuhan, also support the day.
中國(guó)第一個(gè)無(wú)車日于2001年在成都舉辦。臺(tái)北、上海和武漢等其他城市也支持這一節(jié)日。
In Beijing, more and more people are joining the campaign. It asks drivers to leave their cars at home for one day every month, and to walk or ride a bike to work. It also calls on Beijingers not to use cars on June 5th (the World Environment Day). The slogan for the day is, “If we drive for one less day, we can have one more nice day.” So far, more than 200,000 drivers have shown their support. They say, “We can’t control the weather, but we can choose not to drive. We must do more for Car Free Day.”
在北京，越來(lái)越多的人加入了這項(xiàng)運(yùn)動(dòng)。活動(dòng)要求駕車者每個(gè)月有一天把車留在家里，步行或騎自行車去上班。活動(dòng)還呼吁北京人在6月5日(世界環(huán)境日)不要開(kāi)車。活動(dòng)日的口號(hào)是，“如果我們少開(kāi)一天車，我們就能多體驗(yàn)一天美好生活。”到目前為止，已有20多萬(wàn)司機(jī)表示支持。他們說(shuō)，“我們不能控制天氣，但我們可以選擇不開(kāi)車。我們必須為無(wú)車日做更多的工作。”
