Life on Wheels
車輪上的生活
Hello, I'm Jeremy.
你好。我是杰里米。
I'm from the U.S.
我來自美國。
This is my report on transportation.
以下是我關于交通工具的報告。
This world is always moving.
這個世界永遠是移動著的。
Everything seems to have wheels, engines or wings.
萬事萬物似乎都有輪子，發(fā)動機活著翅膀。
Everything seems to be getting faster, too.
一切也似乎都更快了。
Long ago,horses pulled carts, but now we have engines on everything,
很久以前，馬拉車，但是現(xiàn)在我們什么都用發(fā)動機，
even on bicycles and skateboards!
甚至自行車和滑板也有！
Where did it begin?
這是從什么時候開始的呢？
Well, in the 1700s people invented the steam engine.
嗯，在十八世紀，人們發(fā)明了蒸汽機。
That was the beginning of trains.
那就是火車的開端。
Then steam was able to power boats and cars.
然后蒸汽機可以為船和小汽車提供動力。
Boats have been around for thousands of years.
輪船已有差不多幾千年的歷史了。
Now with engines,
現(xiàn)在有了發(fā)動機，
they can go very fast.
人們可以快速地出行。
The first car appeared about two hundred years ago,
第一輛小汽車出現(xiàn)在大約兩百年前，
and now the roads are full of cars.
現(xiàn)在，馬路上全都是車。
All of these cars make the U.S. a nation on wheels.
所有的這些小汽車，使美國成為了一個車輪上的國家。
Transportation is not just on the ground or water.
交通工具不僅僅是在地面或者水上。
Over 100 years ago, people began to make flying machines.
在一百多年以前，人們就開始制作飛機。
Today we travel a lot by airplane.
今天，我們經(jīng)常坐飛機出行。
Now people can even travel to space in spaceships.
現(xiàn)在，人們甚至可以乘坐宇宙飛船去太空。
Can you imagine future transportation?
你能想象未來的交通工具是什么樣子的嗎？
My favourite type of transportation is the bicycle.
我最喜歡的交通工具是自行車。
I like to go everywhere by bike in my city.
我喜歡在我的城市里騎著自行車到處走。
It's good for my health and for the environment.
這對我的健康和環(huán)境都好。
